It's time for some of our politicians to make another run for office. The one in my state is Pat Toomey. He's been running a commercial touting his support for a bill that pushed for background checks on anyone who works with children. Wonderful idea!
But when it comes to background checks or limits on semi-automatic gun ownership, Toomey is against any and all laws citing the 2nd amendment.

He's not the only one owned by the NRA. Most of congress is. How do we know this? Because even though a percentage of 72% or more of Americans want gun laws that protect - Congress only votes to please the NRA.

The Do Nothing Congress is not representing the citizens of the United States they are only representing their pocket books.

The sad fact is that our children will pay the ultimate price. They already are!

"We all know that violence creates and sustains more violence – sociologists and public health experts now have overwhelming evidence for that conclusion. This unending cycle of violence and revenge has plagued young people, especially young males, for much of recorded history. Scientists and researchers understand that violent death and injury rates among children and youth remain highest in places where resolving conflicts through violent means becomes the accepted norm in society. Where war or violent social unrest or gang conflict exists, children learn that adults typically settle their differences with guns and bombs – which makes those children more likely to settle their own differences in similarly violent ways." Taken from a Baha'i article about protecting our children.

When will The Do Nothing Congress honor their pledge to the people of the United States?
When will money stop being the only influence in Washington?
Maybe when term limits are the rule?

I asked the question on Facebook - here is the answer!
Kudos to Mary Doyle for her insight, patience, and truth!

Is there even a reason for debate? BAN THEM NOW!
Channel outrage and sadness into action. America needs to ban military-style assault weapons, NOW.

Daniel Black Of course there is, if you think the 2nd amendment is about home defense or hunting you need a history book.

Ian Mackenzie Nobody other than a front line soldier needs an automatic weapon and even then in rare circumstances. A soldier receives intensive training on the use of his weapon and yet any idiot can buy one over the counter. That's just plain stupid

Daniel Black Every American is a front line fighter. If you're interested in the basis of our legal system, Ben Franklin was a prolific writer, among his other great virtues.

Ian Mackenzie Sounds like paranoia and stupidity to me. Nobody needs an automatic weapon for home security. Only place on the planet they can be bought over the counter in USA and the result shows up every few months when some crazy proves how stupid it is to make these weapons available.

Daniel Black It isn't for home security Ian, it's for homeland security. Our nation was founded through war, and our original citizens insisted on the right to defend ourselves, that right was made one of our first laws to defend against, among other things, govern...See More

Mary Doyle The sad truth is, the right, the NRA and the Trump followers, are very much like the militia folks who think they should be able to have weapons like these to "protect" themselves from the Fedrahl Gubment. This is what we are dealing with. These are the people who are standing in the way of common sense gun regulation.

But Mary Doyle... that is exactly the reason we HAVE the second amendment. The defense against a government that turns on its people. I didn't write it, but I definitely believe in it.

Mary Doyle Okay. In the meantime, while you arm yourself against your government, I'll be working with it to ensure we have common sense gun regulation.

Charles Yordy You can't ban weapons without trashing the Constitution. Your choice.

Charles Yordy "Common sense" tyranny. LOL.

Mary Doyle Well, since you seem to be one who thinks your right to own a gun is more important than my right to live in a safe and secure environment, I say you probably don't understand common sense. It can be done. And it will be.

Charles Yordy If you want to start a civil war, try it.

Mary Doyle Are you threatening civil war there Charlie? You think rules and regulations that protect your right to guns trumps all else. Well, let me say if you think scientific study of gun use is an erosion of your gun rights, I don't give a f*&k. If you think putting common sense protections in place for who can buy assault rifles is an erosion of your gun rights, I don't give a f*&k. If you think studies designed to find safer ways to own guns is an erosion of your gun rights, I don't give a f*&k. Essentially, I don't give a f*&k about what you think are your rights. I care more about the hundreds, no thousands of people who have been murdered by gun toting lunatics. If you think your f*&king rights are more important than the people who have lost their lives, than I seriously do not have a single solitary f*&k for you. Have a nice day.
